Mrs. Freddie Webster, R.N., B.A., We Care Coordinator

The WE CARE Jacksonville network is a non-profit organization which began as a grass roots coalition of physicians, nurses, dentist, hospitals, public health facilities, other allied health professionals, clerical personnel, and local church groups. Together they bring desperately needed primary and specialty care to those who need it most - the non-insured, the homeless, and medically underserved people of Jacksonville.

The WE CARE program provides free medical treatment (and when necessary, hospitalization) to Duval County persons in need of these services.

If a patient requires medical evaluation/treatment beyond the scope of what the clinic can provide, a referral is made to an appropriate WE CARE participating specialist.

Our Mission

The mission of WE CARE Jacksonville is to improve the access to quality health care for Jacksonville’s uninsured and homeless population by:

  • COORDINATING the participation of multiple community agencies in providing primary health care services at city-wide clinic locations.

  • MAINTAINING the quality of care provided to clinic patients by ensuring that all medical care is supervised by Florida licensed health care professionals.

  • ENCOURAGING the voluntary contribution of medical goods and supplies by the private sector for use in the WE CARE Clinics.

Who is Eligible For Services?

The guidelines for acceptance into the WE CARE program are:

  • Income at or below 200% of poverty level as defined by the Federal Government;

  • Patient carries no applicable insurance;

Availability of services is promoted through radio and newspaper public services announcements, through networking with area homeless shelters, soup kitchens, Department of Health service centers, and other community agencies and churches.
